Remedial massage is a clinical approach to achieving results with musculoskeletal issues. The treatment is designed to identify and treat the root cause of pain, tightness, or restricted movement
- not just relieve it temporarily.
Before your treatment, we'll assess how you're moving and holding tension and specific techniques will be tailored based on what your body needs, whether that's deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, decompression therapy or muscle energy techniques.
It's not about relaxation for its own sake - it is therapeutic work with a purpose, though many people find it deeply calming too.

What conditions can Remedial treat?
Anyone is welcome! But a few common issues include the following:
Frozen shoulder & limited joint mobility, tension-type headaches, migraine support, myofascial restrictions, chronic postural tension & imbalances, low back pain & sciatica, repetitive strains & spasms, sub-acute & chronic soft tissue injuries, tendinopathies, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia & other neurological pain symptoms, post-surgical mobility recovery, thoracic outlet syndrome & other nerve impingements, many more. Please get in touch to discuss your concerns.

How many sessions before I see results?
It depends on what condition you have and for how long you've had it. The body takes time to release, re-pattern and re-integrate after chronic tension has been released before it settles into normal balance. It can take anywhere from 2 sessions to over 10 sessions depending on how your body is responding to treatment and if homecare advice is considered. Healing takes time but your body deserves it.

What can I expect to feel after treatment?
You may experience easier movements, more flexibility, reduced pain or tension, or a feeling of lightness. You may also experience within 24-48 hours after treatment some soreness or tenderness as the tissues are adapting, feeling more tired or sleepy, occasional mild bruising or even an emotional release as your body is letting go of old holding patterns. Check in with me if you have sharp or worsening pain, new numbness, or new symptoms lasting longer than 3 days - we can adjust your next session.

Can I work out after a Remedial treatment?
Avoid intense exercise for at least 24-48 hours depending on how your body is feeling after treatment. Remedial work loosens muscle fibers and shifts adhesions so jumping into exercise can further irritate tissues, bring back soreness and undo the changes we've made. I recommend light movement like stretching or gentle walking as this helps keep circulation flowing and aids in recovery. Stay hydrated as well!
Dynamic bodywork designed to support active lifestyles, enhance performance, and keep your body moving at its best. This treatment is tailored to your specific activity, whether you're a weekend warrior, recreational runner, gym-goer, or athlete. We work on the areas under most demand: tight hamstrings, stiff quads, tight hips, overworked calves, and tension in the back and shoulders using techniques such as deep tissue, stretching, joint mobilization or trigger point therapy depending on your goals.

When is the best time to book Sports for pre or post activity?
Book 1-3 days or 2-4 hours before pre-training or event to prepare muscles, boost flexibility and lower risk of strains or cramping during training or event.
Book 24-72 hours post-training or event to target tight spots, flush metabolic waste & reduce delayed onset muscle soreness, and aid in your overall sports recovery.

Will Sports massage help with a specific injury?
It can support recovery from many soft tissue issues like muscle strains, tightness, and overuse injuries but it's not a substitute for medical diagnosis. If you have acute or unclear injury, I recommend getting it assessed by your GP or Physiotherapist and getting clearance before making a booking.

How often should I book Crystal Reiki?
Weekly or fortnightly for support through periods of high stress or life changes and about 4-6 sessions are ideal depending on your circumstances.
Once every 4-6 weeks for general restoration.

What should I expect during & after a session?
You will be fully clothed, lying comfortably on the massage table. Most people feel deeply relaxed, warm, light tingling sensations or a bit of coughing to clear energy - it is also common to feel emotional release, sleepy, light-headed, or very peaceful afterwards. After a session you may feel lighter, clearer, or notice reduced stress and tension.

How often should I book for self-care?
As often as you need it! But for general wellbeing, book every 4-6 weeks. If you're going through extra stress, book every fortnightly until you feel more balanced.

Can I have firm pressure during Wellness &
Relaxation massage?
This style of massage focuses on light to medium pressure. This slow, gentle depth is what helps activate your body's parasympathetic "rest & digest" response so you can fully switch off and calm your nervous system. However, we can use slightly firmer pressure on a focus area like your shoulders or back and still keep it gentle enough to stay relaxing. You can let me know your preference before or during your session.
Gentle yet specialized care through the second trimester and beyond. Eases the physical demands of carrying, birthing, and recovering during a sacred time in a mother's journey because your body deserves support and nourishment at every stage.

Please DO NOT book if you have the following:
Active DVT or blood clotting, pre-eclampsia or eclampsia, placenta complications, pre-existing high risk medical conditions, unexplained vaginal bleeding or spotting, miscarriage or pre-term labor concerns, regular contractions before 37 weeks, ongoing postpartum medical complications, active infection or fever over 37.5c.
You must obtain clearance from your GP, Obstetrician or midwife if you might have high risk conditions.

Why can't I book during the 1st trimester?
We take extra caution and wait until after week 13 of pregnancy due to this stage being the most vulnerable trimester. Your baby's vital organs are forming, your body is extra sensitive, and this is when miscarriage risk is at its highest. If you have any concerns, always discuss with your midwife or GP before making a booking.

What positions will I be during the massage?
You'll be positioned safely and comfortably, typically side-lying with supportive pillows so there's no pressure on your belly. As your pregnancy progresses, positioning is adjusted to keep you fully supported.

How soon after birth can I book postpartum massage?
This varies depending on your birth experience. For vaginal birth with no complications, you can book from 5 days or 2 weeks postpartum depending on how you feel. For caesarean or more complex births, it's best to wait 6 weeks until you've been cleared by your GP or midwife to avoid further complications.

Is it safe to have massage while breastfeeding?
Yes, breastfeeding doesn't limit what treatments you can have. If anything feels like it's affecting your milk or comfort, we can always adjust. Please feel free to bring your breastfeeding or postpartum kit with you to your session if you need it.
Targeted relief for the tension you carry - neck, shoulders, back, you name it. Aimed at lowering cortisol and restoring the parasympathetic response. This treatment is for when life feels like too much and your body needs a release.

What's the difference between Stress Management and Wellness & Relaxation?
Stress management massage is more targeted.
It's a blend of firmer pressure with slow, grounding strokes and mindful breathing cues that focuses on areas where your body physically holds stress like the neck, shoulders, jaw or lower back and helps to soften that tension. Whether you need a full-body massage with one focus area or a whole session dedicated to a specific tense area - you decide what your body needs.

Will it be painful if I'm very tense?
You may feel some sensitivity in tighter areas, but pressure is always adjusted to what feels right for you. It should feel like relief, not pain - communication throughout the session ensures it.

How often should I book for ongoing stress?
For chronic or high stress, fortnightly sessions tend to be most effective before moving to monthly until you feel more balanced. Even one session can help, but consistency makes the biggest difference for long-term tension.
